Jajpur: In a tragic incident, unable to bear the pressure of money lenders to repay the loans, a young miner committed suicide in Kadubani village under Kaliapani police limits of Odisha’s Jajpur district on Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Srinivasa aka Lincoln (22), the only son of Brajbandhu Nayak of the village. According to reports, Lincoln had his dinner last night and went to sleep in his bedroom. However, when he did not wake up this morning and go to work, his family members got worried and knocked on his door. Eventually, they broke open the door to find his body hanging from the ceiling of his bedroom.
Lincoln, a contract worker in a private company in a mine, reportedly lost several lakhs of rupees playing the ‘Daman’ game on his mobile. He took loans from various groups through his mother to deal with the losses. When the moneylenders pressed him to repay the loan amount, he reportedly ended his life.
Kaliapani police said that they were investing in the circumstances that led the youth to take such a drastic step. They added that they were checking his bank account and it may reveal the reason for the suicide.
Kaliapani police seized the body today and registered a case of death in this connection.
