Balasore: In a tragic incident, a youth fell into a pond and drowned to death in Khadipahi village of Odisha’s Balasore district on the day of his marriage reception on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Ajay Kumar Bhanj.
Ajay tied the knot on March 1 and his reception was scheduled to be held on Friday. The mishap took place during the Chaturthi rituals when Ajay went to a nearby pond for a bath. Unfortunately, he slipped and fell into the pond and died on the spot.
As soon as the relatives came to know about the accident, they rescued Ajay and rushed him to the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital. Doctors at the DHH, however, declared him brought dead.
His body has been sent for post-mortem after the police registered a case of unnatural death.
