Odisha’s 1st Visually-Impaired OAS Officer Joins As District Social Security Officer

**Bhubaneswar:** Even though he cannot see with his eyes, he did not stop visualizing a dream and worked hard to make it come true.

The first visually impaired OAS Officer and the great visionary of the disability sector Sanyasi Kumar Behera joined as the District Social Security Officer, Head Quarters in the SSEPD Department of Capital Hospital Campus in Unit-6 here on Thursday.

He aims to works for the visually-impaired people in the mainstream sector with his two new government scheme that will focus on senior citizens as well. He plans to work for the most marginalised Person’s With Disabilities in the State of Odisha.

Being the Secretary of State Blind Association, Behera fought a long legal battle to induct the visually-impaired persons in the mainstream service sector.

The 43-year-old cleared the Odisha Administrative Services (OAS) exams this year with an all Odisha ranking of 220 and stood first among the candidates with physical deformity.

Hailing from a very poor family in Kishoreprasad village of Ganiya block in Nayagarh district, Sanyasi has faced many hardships in his life. Matriculation from Bhima Bhoi School for The Blind in Bhubaneswar, he completed his graduation from Algappa University in Tamil Nadu and finished office management course.
