**Bhubaneswar: ** It was a moment to cherish for the Odia lad Chandrakant Acharya hailing from Jagatsinghpur and his family as he was awarded the autumn term’s Sword of Honour for the best performing cadet at the Indian Military Academy on Saturday.
Odisha Chief Minister also tweeted to congratulate him.
“Congratulations to Chandrakant Acharya of Cuttack on being conferred the prestigious Sword Of Honour as the best performing cadet at Indian Military Academy passing out parade. #Odisha is proud of his accomplishment. Wish him all success in his career.”

Chandrakant always wanted to join the Indian Army and therefore he had joined the prestigious Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC), a government military school in Dehradun.
He hails from an academic family in Odisha, his father Ajay Acharya is an associate professor in Botany at Cuttack, and his brother is a Suryakant Acharya is chemical engineer in Karnataka. But he always had a dream to serve the country. During the term at IMA he decided to join the Para unit, which is a special force of the Army.
He also won the gold medal given to the officer who stands first in order of merit.
It is worth mentioning that Odisha had won the Sword of Honor at IMA, Dehradun last year also as the title went to Pratyush Mohanty of the State.
