Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s first State Election Commissioner retired IAS officer Debendra Kumar Mishra passed away today at 12.30 PM.
After recovering from Covid-19, Mishra died while undergoing treatment for other ailments at a private hospital here.
Mishra died at the age of 85.
He had held different important positions in the State government before being appointed as the first State Election Commissioner of Odisha from 1994 to 1999.
The mortal remains of Mishra will be kept at his Saheed Nagar residence tomorrow for the public to pay their last respect to the departed soul.
Mishra’s mortal remains will be cremated at the Satya Nagar crematorium tomorrow at 11.30 AM, family sources said.
Mishra’s death has been condoled in various circles.
