Koraput: Odisha’s Mitali Panda, a native of Prasad Rao Peta here in Jeypore has been crowned Mrs Universe Canada 2021, bringing laurels to the State as well as the country. Mitali will be representing Canada at Mrs Universe 2021 pageant to be held in Seoul, South Korea.
Prior to this, Mital has won Mrs Canada Karwachauth beauty contest in 2018 and Mrs Royal Choice 2019. A student SSVM, she had worked in few IT companies after completing her BTech from Centurion Institute of Technology, Bhubaneshwar.
“During my childhood, I always had a dream of holding the crown for the spirit of womanhood. Anything worth waiting is always worth having,” Mitali said after being crowned as the Mrs Universe Canada.
“Truly, this is the land of opportunity and diversity. Being an Indo-Canadian, I am thrilled to announce that I would be representing the nation that I migrated to for a better future. Thanks to my national director Asphandiar Wadiwalla and Mrs Universe team Canada for believing in me and selecting me throughout the journey,” she added.
Daughter of Satya Narayan Panda and Sucharita Panda, Mitali had married Sandeep Verma of Irrigation Colony here in 2017. The couple has been living in Canada since 2018. Her in-laws Mukteshwar Lal Verma and Renu Bala Verma have expressed delight at Mitali’s achievement.
After her studies, she worked in a few big IT companies in Delhi, Hyderabad, and Mumbai. While working in Mumbai, Mitali also took up a few modeling assignments, sources said.
At Mrs Universe Canada, the rounds were conducted virtually and with one-on-one interviews. Mitali, emerged the winner after a series of such rounds, and was crowned as Mrs Universe Canada. Mitali said that she was always proud of being an Odia. “I am proud to be a native of Jeypore, a small and peaceful town in Koraput district of Odisha,” she stated.
