**Bhubaneswar:** The Odisha Human Rights Commission on Wednesday directed the Jail IG to submit the inquiry report on the suicide of under trial prisoner (UTP) Jitendra Biswal (33) within six weeks. The next hearing of the case will be on July 4.
Notably, Biswal died under suspicious circumstances on May 12 in the judicial custody at Jharpada Jail. The body of Biswal was found hanging from an iron railing of the jail toilet. While the jail authorities reported the incident to be suicidal, the victim’s family suspected a foul play.
The administration and security arrangement of Bhubaneswar Special Jail at Jharpada is under scrutiny after his death.
Biswal was lodged in the Jharpada jail since 2013. It was reported that hel was under tremendous stress after being convicted for seven years RI in a fraud case. Moreover, he was facing another trial of a gang rape case under Section 376.
Biswal’s father said, “I want justice for my son’s death and an unbiased trial should be conducted”.
