Bhubaneswar: The BMC Standing Committee on Health and Sanitation to today approved a proposal for the establishment of a 200-ton Biomethanation plant by Oil India in Bhubaneswar.
Oil India also plans to set up another 100-ton capacity Biomethanation plant.
It was decided in the meeting that rain coats will be procured for sanitary inspectors, sanitary supervisors and sanitary workers. Similarly, track pants and t-shirts will be purchased for the sanitary inspectors. Two centres will be constructed for the cremation of dead dogs, cats and small animals.
The Standing Committee on Health and Sanitation has recommended and forwarded the proposal to the Corporation for consideration to deploy three vehicles in three zones under the BMC Mechanical Sub-division for reduction, recycling and reinvestment.
Some important proposals have been presented in this meeting. Mayor Sulochana Dash said that the members of the Sanitation Standing Committee should visit different wards to check the sanitation system.
They should examine if the bush cutting is done properly.
Currently, mosquito oil is sprayed with Dry Day to destroy the sources of breeding of dengue mosquitoes. The departmental officer has informed the committee that fogging or mosquito oil spraying will start from July 22.
Public toilet works tendered in Bhubaneswar along with three separate group toilets in each ward will be constructed with the help of citizens and corporates.
In another proposal, the corporation has been recommended for a grant of Rs 20 lakh each for electricity works and street lights in each ward.
