Bhubaneswar: At a time when various examinations have been postponed due to the impending cyclone, OJEE’s failure to postpone the counselling session scheduled to be held today and October 26 has invited flak from students.
Despite the cyclone, the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) counselling schedule remains unchanged which is why resentment is brewing among students. Of late, OJEE released a notification regarding the third-round counselling for MBBS and BDS admissions. According to the notification, students who have been allotted seats must report to their chosen colleges between October 24 and 26.
Meanwhile, concerns are being raised about how students will attend counselling sessions at medical colleges located in areas expected to be hit by the cyclone beginning today.
It is pertinent to mention that the state government has declared holidays for all educational institutions due to the impending cyclone. Additionally, upcoming exams have been postponed. The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has recently cancelled the Odisha Administrative Service examination scheduled for October 27.
“There will be heavy rainfall making it difficult for many students to attend the counselling session. It’s a matter of concern how students from sensitive areas like Balasore, Kendrapada, and Bhadrak will reach counselling sessions. When institutions like OPSC have postponed exams like OCSE, OJEE is proceeding with counselling despite student protests and demands to halt the process,” alleged a student.
