**Balasore:** In a dastardly act, a old woman was beaten black and blue by a couple for spilling water in front of their house while ferrying a bucket of water to her home from a nearby tubewell.
“As I was going back to my home with a bucket of water, it got tumbled in front of my neighbours’ house. Both the husband and wife came out and started abusing me verbally. Then, they took hold of a wooden plank and started thrashing me. As none of the villagers heard my plea, I went to the police station and filed a complaint against them,” cried out Minati Majhi.
This heart-wrenching incident occurred in Raikula village under Khaira police limits of Balasore district.
The police acted promptly and got her hospitalised for treatment. Then they arrested the accused couple, Upendra Majhi and Satyabhama Majhi.
“The woman was thrashed mercilessly by the accused couple for a petty matter. We have apprehended them and they will be court-forwarded today. Moreover, we sent the woman to the hospital for treatment, informed Lopamudra Nayak, IIC, Khaira PS.
