Bhubaneswar: An elderly couple was brutally thrashed by their son and daughter-in-law at Bhuban in Dhenkanal district.
The couple, identified as Buddhimanta Sahu (70) and his wife Baji Sahu (65), were allegedly thrown hot water and stones by their son Rabi and daughter-in-law Nandini.
According to reports, the couple had built their house and had bequeathed it to their four sons. However, the eldest son Rabi and his wife Nandini took possession of the house, forcing the elderly couple to live on the streets.
When Buddhimanta and Baji tried to enter their house on August 27, they were met with resistance from their son and daughter-in-law, who allegedly poured hot water on them from rooftop and threw stones, sources revealed.
The couple suffered severe burns and injuries and were admitted to the Bhuban hospital. Though Buddhimanta filed a complaint in this connection, no action has been taken against the accused son and daughter-in-law so far, sources said.
