Bhubaneswar: The 209th Board of Directors meeting of Odisha Lift Irrigation Corporation Ltd. (OLIC) was held today at Lokseva Bhawan, chaired by Anu Garg, Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary and Chairperson of OLIC.
During the meeting, OLIC presented its ambitious five-year master plan (2025–26 to 2029–30) aimed at creating 9 lakh hectares of additional irrigation potential across the state, with special focus on Blocks currently having less than 35% irrigation coverage.
The plan includes the installation of 10,380 Cluster Lift Irrigation Projects (CLIPs) and 1,50,500 deep borewells, with a strong emphasis on solar energization to ensure long-term sustainability and reduce energy dependency.
The Board appreciated the enhanced operational scale of OLIC. Garg advised the corporation to align its efforts with other departments and focus on sustainability, energy efficiency, crop diversification, empowerment of women farmers, and the adoption of digital and IT-based solutions for better delivery and monitoring.
