Bhubaneswar: The breeding season of the Olive Ridley turtles has started in the deep sea off the coast of the Krishnaprasad area of Odisha’s Puri district.
Meanwhile, security has been tightened in the nine camps of the three ranges in the area. Temporary turtle protection camps have been set up by the Forest Department on the beach in Chilika, Satpada, and Rambha ranges. Security will be beefed up in the area till May.
According to reports, Olive Ridley turtles started coming to the beach since the last new moon and the spawning process started.
As per the directions of the Chilika DFO Amlan Naik, all types of measures have been taken by the Forest Department for the protection of Olive Ridley turtles.
