Cuttack: The Musical programme by Ollywood playback singer Asima Panda was cut shot on Saturday night, leaving thousands of viewers disappointed as the Commissionerate Police stopped her show mid-way, citing time constraints and adherence to High Court guidelines.
Police stopped the event mid-way at 10 PM on Saturday night. Singer Asima Panda had started performing on stage at 9:55 PM, with Cuttack additional Collector Siba Tappo and other officials in attendance. However, police forces interrupted her performance, forcing her to stop the show, and also compelled the sound engineer to switch off the loudspeaker.
According to reports, additional Collector Siba Tappo and others requested the police to extend the program for a few minutes, but the police paid little heed to the request. Following the police action, singer Asima Panda expressed resentment at being insulted during her performance.
The additional Collector stated that time was running out following which the police had performed their duties. He said that the program was organized as per schedule. Notably, the cultural program is allowed to continue until 10 PM.
