Bhubaneswar: In the wake of rising cases of COVID-19 in the State, the Government has issued restrictive orders on campaigning and related activities for the general elections to panchayati raj institutions, 2022.
According to an order issued by Special Relief Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Jena, maximum five persons including the candidate will be allowed for door-to-door campaigns.
“Large groups will not be allowed for campaigning and maximum five persions will be allowed. As far as possible use social and electronic media for campaigning,” the order stated.
COVID positive candidates shall restrict their campaign through electronic media only and physical presence in campaign will be strictly prohibited.
No road show, padyatra, rallies, or procession will be allowed. Same applies to victory processions. Anyone violating instructions on COVID-19 will be liable to be booked under the Disaster Management Act and other legal provisions, the order stated.
