Bhawanipatna: Kesinga police today arrested one person for allegedly attempting to rape a lady doctor and rob her of her valuables at gunpoint.
Police have recovered the gold ornaments looted from the lady doctor from the accused. A motorcycle looted by him from another person at gunpoint has also been recovered.
The arrestee has been identified as one Baikuntha Dora of Behera Pada, Utkela under Kesinga police limits in Kalahandi district, police said.
Police said that accused Baikuntha visited the rented house of a lady doctor working as a Medical Officer at a local healthcare facility at around 4.45 PM on Saturday posing as a patient.
He requested the lady doctor to check his blood pressure. The lady doctor advised him to visit some other doctor as she didn’t have the equipment to measure blood pressure.
The accused asked for a glass of water which the lady doctor obliged and left for the kitchen to cook food.
The accused followed her clandestinely into the kitchen and put a gun on her head asking her to part with her gold ornaments, ATM card, etc.
He then forcibly attempted to rape her and threatened to kill her family members if she disclosed the incident to anyone and fled away.
While fleeing the accused stopped one motorcyclist and snatched his vehicle at gunpoint.
Police said the accused has been booked in two cases.
In the case pertaining to the lady doctor he has been booked under sections 452/394/376/511 IPC and section 25 of Arms Act.
In the case pertaining to the snatching of the motorcycle from a biker, he has been booked under section 394 IPC and 25 Arms Act.
Police have seized one gold necklace, one gold earring, one pair of silver payal, one toy revolver, one Bajaj Discover motorcycle, one mobile phone, and one pair of dress used during the commission of the crime from the possession of the accused.
