Cuttack: Police have arrested one of the accused in the alleged gang rape of a 15-year-old girl near Gatiroutpatna in Cuttack city.
“So far one has been apprehended. We have launched a manhunt for the other accused,” informed Cuttack Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Prateek Singh.
Briefing reporters, Singh said that a team has been specially constituted to nab the second accused.
“Chauliaganj police have registered a case in this connection under sections 376 D(a), 376 (2a) and 34 IPC,” the DCP added.
Chauliaganj police have rescued a minor girl who was allegedly gang raped by two youths for around 22 days inside a poultry farm near Gatiroutpatna under Chauliaganj police limits on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.
Following the rescue, the minor girl was handed over to ChildLine and subsequently produced before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).
During counselling, she revealed that after being tortured by her parents she had come to Cuttack to stay with her elder sister and brother-in-law at OMP Square. Following a dispute between her sister and brother-in-law, the former asked her to return home.
While waiting for a bus at OMP Square here, a youth approached her and brought her to Badambadi by giving false assurances. As it was getting dark, the girl became keen to return home but the youth took her to the farmhouse near Gatiroutpatna on the pretext of taking her home.
The youth along with his associate abused her sexually at the farm for 22 days. They also recorded the video of the incident and threatened to kill her or post the video on social media if she attempts to escape or dares to disclose the matter.
