Deogarh: A tragic road accident near Ambakata Junction on National Highway 49 claimed the life of one person and left eight others seriously injured.

According to reports, the incident occurred when a DJ vehicle belonging to Kuber Music Party from Shraddhapali village (Bargarh district) lost control after a tyre burst, hit the divider, and overturned.

The vehicle was en route to Jharbahal village under Barkote police station in Deogarh district for a wedding function when the accident took place. One of the artists on board lost his life, while all other passengers sustained injuries.

Following the crash, locals and Barkote police rushed to the scene and rescued the injured. They were initially taken to Barkote hospital, but due to the severity of their injuries, eight of them were later shifted to the Deogarh district headquarters hospital.

Deogarh Sub-Collector Parikshit Sahu and Emergency Officer Hemant Singh supervised the rescue operation on behalf of the district administration. They also visited the district headquarters hospital and, on the advice of doctors, arranged for the critically injured patients to be transferred to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla for advance treatment.

Further investigation in the matter is underway.
