One Dead, Two Missing After Drowning In Mahanadi, Rescue Ops On

Cuttack: A youth lost his life while other two are missing after they drowned in Mahanadi at Jobra here on Sunday. The identity of the deceased and the missing youths is yet to be ascertained.

According to reports, a group of seven +2 (Second Year) students had come to Jobra Annicut for taking bath. The mishap occured at around 2:30 pm when three youths slipped into the river and went missing.

The rest of the students raised an alarm following which rescue operations started. Local fishermen along with ODRAF and Fire Department personnel rescued one of them. However, the rescued youth succumbed while undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital.

Till last reports came, rescue operations were on to trace two other youths. Local police have registered a case in this connection. The students were natives of Charigharia village in Tangi Choudwar area.
