Koraput: One person was killed, while 20 others sustained varying degrees of injuries when the pick-up van they were travelling by overturned near Laudi village in Pattangi block in Odisha’s Koraput district on Sunday night.
Police along with locals rushed all injured persons to the nearby Saluru hospital in Andhra Pradesh. Later, five of them were shifted to the Vijayanagar District Headquarters Hospital as their condition deteriorated further.
According to reports, the ill-fated pick-up van was transporting daily labourers from Berhampur to a construction site in Koraput when the driver lost control over its wheels. While the exact reason behind the accident is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the mishap might have occurred due to the drowsiness of the driver.
Police seized the van and started investigations.
