Bhubaneswar: One person was killed and 30 others were injured as the pickup van they were travelling in overturned near Chitingi Ghat in the Chandragiri area in Gajapati district, on Wednesday.
According to reports, around 40 people from Kesinga village in Ramgiri area were travelling to Ghaiabali to attend the 10th-day death ritual when the pickup van lost control and overturned at Chitingi Ghat, resulting in the death of one person on the spot.
Six of the injured are in critical condition and have been shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital for further treatment. The others are undergoing treatment at the Chandragiri Hospital.
Upon being informed, police have seized the vehicle and are investigating the cause of the accident.
