Bhubaneswar: One person was killed while four others were critically injured in a road accident in front of Axis Bank at Bhuinpur Chhak in Aul Cuttack-Chandbali road in Odisha in the early hours of Sunday when they were returning from Swargadwar in Puri after attending a funeral.
The deceased has been identified as Pradipta Das, Sarpanch of Jayanagar gram panchayat in the Rajkanika area of Kendrapada district.
According to reports, the accident occurred around 5.00 am on Sunday when the car they were travelling by was rammed into a truck completely smashing their vehicle and grievously injuring the occupants. Locals rescued them and alerted the police and Fire Services department.
Initially, the injured were admitted to Aul community health center (CHC) but were shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. Das succumbed to his injuries while being shifted to SCBMCH.
