One Killed, 7 Critical After Speeding Truck Hits Pick-Up Van In Odisha’s Baripada

Baripada: One person was killed and seven others sustained varying degrees of injuries after a speeding truck hit a pick-up van on the National Highway No 18 passing through Baripada on Sunday.

According to reports, the pick-up van was carrying seven passengers to Baripada town and stopped on the side of the road at Asanjoda Street on NH No 18 to pick up more passengers. Suddenly, a truck coming at a high speed from the rear side hit the van. The crash was so severe that the pick-up van was thrown about 15 feet away.

Local people rescued the critically injured from the van and rushed them to Baripada Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital. One person died there while undergoing treatment. The condition of seven other passengers is said to be critical.
