Puri: One person was killed on the spot while another sustained critical injuries in a road accident near Badrakhol, close to Jhampulakuda on the Gopa main road in Nimapara. The critically injured has been shifted to Bhubaneswar for treatment.
According to reports, the accident occurred when a motorcycle coming from Gopa tried to overtake a four-wheeler near Jhampulakuda. In the process, it collided head-on with another motorcycle approaching from the opposite direction.
One of the riders, identified as Debashish Panda (30) of Barimunda village under Bamanal panchayat in Nimapada block, died on the spot due to the impact.
The other rider was seriously injured and initially admitted to the Nimapara Community Health Centre with the help of local residents. He was later referred to a hospital in Bhubaneswar after his condition worsened.
