Balasore: A youth died and another sustained serious injuries after an unidentified vehicle hit their motorcycle while they were chasing a cattle-laden vehicle in Balasore district, on Monday. The incident occurred near Panapana in the Nilagiri area of Balasore.
According to reports, the incident happened as a group, allegedly from a ‘Go Surakhya Bahini’, were trying to stop the vehicle, suspected of carrying cattle for slaughter.
Two members of ‘Go Surakhya Bahini’ identified as Krupasindhu Behera and Lambodhar Mohapatra of Alasuan village under Khantapada police station were following the vehicle transporting cattle after being informed about it. Meanwhile, an unidentified vehicle allegedly rammed into them from behind, leading to the fatal accident.
Both of them were taken to Soro Hospital where Krupasindhu was declared dead, and Lambodhar was referred to Balasore District Headquarters Hospital and later SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack. After being turned away from SCB Medical College and Hospital, Lambodhar is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
Meanwhile, police seized the vehicle involved in the accident.
