Rourkela: One Maoist was killed in an exchange of fire with security personnel on Friday in Baliadihi forest under Jaraikela police limits of neighbouring Jharkhand State on the Odisha-Jharkhand border.
The deceased Maoist has been identified as Budhram Munda of Charisiyud village under Adaki police limits of Khunti district in Jharkhand.
Security personnel seized one 9mm pistol, 20 rounds of 9mm pistol bullets, 134 rounds of SLR ammunition, 2 magazines, 3 walkie-talkies, Maoist uniforms and other utility items from the site of the encounter.
According to reports, acting on intelligence inputs of the red rebels planning a major attack, security personnel conducted a combing operation in the Baliadihi forest. During the combing operation, the red rebels opened fire on the security personnel. In the return fire, Munda was neutralized while three others managed to escape.
