Bhubaneswar: One more teacher of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) at Landiguda in Koraput district has been suspended in connection with the drowning of three students in Kolab reservoir last week.
Hindi teacher Ramesh Chandra Meena has faced action for dereliction of duty. Earlier, three staff members were suspended on Sunday – physics teacher Chaman Kumar, physical education teacher Rahul Singh, and hostel in-charge Ishwar Khara.
An investigation into the incident is currently underway,” officials said. The tragedy occurred between 3 pm and 3.30 pm last Saturday when a group of hostel boarders went to the nearby Kolab reservoir after appearing for their final CBSE Class X board examination. They drowned while bathing in the water body.
The deceased were identified as Lingaraj Khilo of Koraput, Swastik Sundar Halwa of Laxmipur and Om Prakash Halwa of Lamtaput.
