Cuttack: In a tragic incident, one student drowned and another went missing in the river Mahanadi near Balisahi under Jagatpur police limits in Cuttack city on Friday. While one of them was rescued and declared dead by the doctors at the nearest hospital, the other student remains missing.
The deceased student has been identified as Aryan Nayak. He was studying in class VIII in Rajkishore Bidyapith. The missing student has been identified as Manoranjan Behera. He too was studying in Rajkishore Bidyapith in class VIII.
Fire Service personnel have launched an operation to rescue Manoranjan.
According to reports, Aryan, Manoranjan and 11 other students had gone to river Mahanadi to take a bath after appearing their exam at school. While bathing Aryan and Manoranjan went missing in the river. Following the incident other students informed the headmaster of the school who later informed their family members and Fire Service.
Aryan was rescued and rushed to the nearest hospital where he was pronounced dead by the doctors.
