**Keonjhar: ** A one-year-old girl was admitted on Thursday to the Keonjhar district headquarters hospital in a critical condition after falling prey to the age-old, neck-deep superstition of branding on stomach to cure of ailment.
Notably, the girl child of Basu Patra and Dulari Patra, a resident of Uttam Singh Haating near Barbil was suffering from malnutrition. Instead of taking her to hospital for treatment, her parents went to a quack, who pressed red-hot iron on his stomach at several places in a bid to cure her.
But, instead of curing her condition deteriorated, she was initially admitted to the Barbil hospital and then shifted to the district hospital.
