Mayurbhanj: A truck transporting onions from Nasik to Kolkata caught fire and was reduced to ash at Bangiriposhi Ghat on National Highway No 49 in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Monday morning. According to reports, the driver and helper of the truck somehow managed to escape and save their lives.
On being informed, four firefighters from Bangiriposhi and Bishoi rushed to the accident spot and tried to put off the blaze as well as rescue the driver. The firefighters were struggling to bring the blaze under control till the time of writing this report.
Traffic on National Highway – 49 came to a standstill due to the accident.
Although the exact reason for the fire is yet to be ascertained, police said they suspect that an electrical short circuit was responsible for the mishap.
