Bhubaneswar: Sale of Rakhi on various ecommerce sites and ease of sending Rakhi images and messages through social media had its impact on the businesses of local vendors.

OMMCOM NEWS visited some vendors in Bhubaneswar to know the ground issues faced by them due to the online sale of Rakhis.

"We are facing lot of issues as customers are not visiting our shops after online sale of Rakhis. There has been 20 per cent drop in the foot fall of customers," said a vendor Dipu.

"All vendors wait for this time of the year to earn profit. This year both sun and rain had its adverse impact on the business. Besides, since last two to three years people are purchasing Rakhi online as a result it has affected around 50 per cent business," said another vendor Gopal Krushna Tripathy.

"Our collection of Rakhis are gaining dust because of the online purchase. Customers are not visiting us because of which Rakhis of various designs are remaining stocked. Earlier there was good business but now the market is down," said another vendor Kabita Muduli.
