Bhubaneswar: The State government today revealed that only two cooperative cold storage units are functioning in the State.
Responding to a query by BJD MLA Aswini Patra, Cooperation Minister Pradeep Bal Samanta told the Assembly that the government had set up 18 cooperative cold storages in the State.
However, only two of them are functioning. These two storages are Cooperative Cold storages and Nimapada multi-commodity storage Co-operative Society Ltd, the Minister said adding that the other 16 storages are lying defunct.
The Department has taken proactive measures to make the defunct cold storage operational through PPP mode.
