Bhubaneswar: In a major statewide initiative to combat human trafficking and missing persons cases, the Crime Against Women and Children Wing of Odisha Police conducted a special rescue drive — Operation Anweshan — from August 18 to 22, 2025. The operation successfully traced and rescued 2,417 missing persons, including 358 children (33 boys and 325 girls) and 2,059 women, across various districts in the state.
According to an official press release, Puri district led the rescue efforts, accounting for the highest number of recoveries with 45 children and 504 women. Bhadrak district followed with 37 children and 318 women rescued, while Cuttack district traced 21 children and 304 women.
Apart from this operation, the Odisha Police had also launched similar special drives earlier this year — in February, April, and May — as part of their sustained efforts to trace missing women and children.
“Such campaigns will continue in the coming days,” the press release stated.
