Bhubaneswar: The Angul Police have achieved a significant breakthrough in their Operation Anweshan, rescuing 201 missing children and women in just five days. Led by Superintendent of Police Rahul Jain, the operation resulted in the rescue of 28 children and 173 women, all of whom have been successfully reunited with their families.
The operation, launched on August 18 on the directives of Director General of Police YB Khurania, saw substantial recoveries across different areas. Angul town accounted for 23 missing women and three children, while Talcher reported 25 women and two children rescued. Additionally, 21 women were rescued from the Colliery area and reunited with their families.
A dedicated team, the Investigation Unit for Crime Against Women and Children (IUCAW), played a crucial role in the operation. Comprising an additional Superintendent of Police, two Deputy Superintendents of Police, and staff from every police station, the team worked tirelessly to track down the missing individuals, Angul SP Rahul Jain said.
SP Rahul Jain said, the police are not only focused on rescue efforts but also on the rehabilitation of the rescued individuals. Furthermore, the police are aiming to rescue 300 more missing individuals.
