Berhampur/Rayagada: Two trains with Odia migrant labourers from Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu arrived in Ganjam district and Rayagada district respectively, today. These are in continuation of the operation Subha Yatra where migrants are being transported back to their native places.
While the train from Chittoor, AP dropped 200 migrants at Jagannathpur Railway station on Berhampur outskirts and carried rest of the migrants to Bhadrak district.
The other train from Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu dropped about 200 Odia migrants at Rayagada station. Of the 200, 73 belong to Rayagada district, 49 Nabarangpur, 28 Kalahandi, 27 Gajapati, 5 Koraput, 4 Kandhamal. For crowd management, Section 144 had been implemented in Rayagada town.
Ganjam and Rayagada district administration headed by respective Collectors and SPs received the migrants. After the primary screening, the migrants would be sent to their respective districts by buses and four-wheelers. Social distancing and other guidelines were strictly followed.
All of them would be mandatorily put in their respective districts’ quarantine centres for 28 days. Several senior officials were present at the railway station and coordinated the arrival, screening, fooding and transportation. A medical team was also present to undertake the necessary medical examination.
