**Jharsuguda:** In a bizarre incident, an injured labourer suspecting to be dead was thrown down into the river from Rampela bridge while on his way to Veer Surendra Sai Medical College & Hospital, Burla on Saturday late night.
The victim has been identified as Goutam Bhandare (44).
According to reports, Goutam got injured during a mishap at Odisha Power Generation Corporation Limited (OPGC) plant based at Banharpali under Brajrajnagar assembly segment in the district here. He was immediately rushed to the VIMSAR Burla hospital by his co-worker. But on the way, the fellow labourers threw Goutam down the bridge suspecting him to be dead as he had allegedly stop breathing.
After some of the locals informed the Banharpali police of suspicious activity near the bridge, the police reached the spot and a search operation is on to locate the body. Meanwhile, the police have detained Gautam’s four co- labourers and are further investigating into the matter.
