Bhubaneswar: Bidyut Ranjan Bhol, Deputy Manager of the Odisha Police Housing and Welfare Corporation (OPHWC), Sambalpur Division, was on Thursday remanded to judicial custody till April 15, 2026, after being produced before the Court of the Special Judge, Vigilance, Sambalpur in connection with a disproportionate assets (DA) case.

Bhol was arrested by Vigilance authorities for allegedly possessing assets over 400 per cent beyond his known sources of income, which he reportedly failed to explain satisfactorily.

In this connection, Sambalpur Vigilance Police Station Case No. 03 dated April 1, 2026 has been registered under Sections 13(2) read with 13(1)(b)/12 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 against Bhol and his spouse.

The arrest followed his interception on March 31, after which simultaneous searches were conducted at six locations linked to him on the strength of search warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Sambalpur.

During the searches, Vigilance officials unearthed assets worth crores in the name of Bhol and his family members. The seized assets include two multi-storeyed buildings, one flat in Bhubaneswar, and 29 plots located in Jatni, Berhampur and other places.

Besides immovable properties, gold weighing 1.140 kg, including six gold coins and two gold biscuits, and 751 grams of silver were recovered. Cash amounting to ₹48.79 lakh and deposits worth ₹81.83 lakh were also detected.

The Vigilance department said further investigation into the case is in progress.
