Bhubaneswar: In a significant operation, Odisha Vigilance arrested Bidyut Ranjan Bhol, Deputy Manager of Sambalpur Division, Odisha Police Housing & Welfare Corporation (OPHWC) in an interception case.
He will be forwarded to the Special Vigilance Judge, Sambalpur. Sambalpur Vigilance has registered a case under Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 against Bhol.
Following the interception, vigilance teams conducted simultaneous searches at Bhol’s residences in Sambalpur, Bhubaneswar, and Bhanjanagar, revealing a stash of assets including two multi-storeyed buildings1 flat in Bhubaneswar29 plots in Jatni, Berhampur, and other locations1.140 kg gold, including 6 gold coins and 2 gold biscuits, Rs 48.79 lakh cash, deposits worth Rs 30 lakh and other financial investments under verification.
He will be produced before the Special Vigilance judge, Sambalpur.
Notably, Bhol who joined OPHWC as Assistant Project Manager in 1998 with a salary (Rs 7,000/month), had a meteoric rise, with his assets now worth crores. Investigation is ongoing.
