Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Wednesday dismissed a plea filed by former Advocate General Ashok Mohanty, in connection with the Artha Tatwa (AT) chit fund scam.
Mohanty had urgd the HC to exclude him from the chit fund case. Rejecting Mohanty’s plea, the Court further ordered the CBI court to continue regular hearings of the case.
The CBI had arrested Mohanty for allegedly receiving property worth Rs 1.01 crore at Cuttack’s Bidanasi as a ‘gift’ from Artha Tatwa Group chief Pradeep Sethi.
He was accused of abusing his official position and misappropriating funds from Artha Tatwa Group of companies. Later, the District and Sessions Judge, Khordha, had granted him a bail in this case.
He had moved both, the CBI Court and then the High Court, requesting expulsion of his name from the case, but both the courts turned down his appeal.
The ponzi firm AT Group headed by Sethi, is accused of duping gullible investors in Odisha of more than Rs 500 crore.
