Bhadrak: A bizarre ruling of Orissa High Court has garnered attention from all quarters in the State. It has directed Tihidi’s Block Development Officer (BDO) Dibyajyoti Smrutiranjan Deo to work as a supervisor of a public park of his choice in the district apart from his duty.
The BDO invited trouble when he repeatedly defied the ruling of Orissa High Court. According to sources, the BDO had allegedly transferred funds from one project to be used in another project. When some locals approached him alleging misuse of funds, he did not pay any heed. So they filed a petition.
The HC issued a notice to Deo asking him to refrain from sanctioning any bill of that particular project. It also directed him to appear before him in person. But the BDO defied the court’s order and approved the bill. Moreover, he did not even appear in the court.
the State’s apex court again issued a notice on December 2 asking him to appear before it in person on December 10. But this time too, the BDO defied the court order and tendered an unconditional apology on December 11.
Taking strong cognizance of the fact, the HC sent a notice to him stating, “We are not accepting the unconditional apology tendered by the opposite party (Dibyajyoti Smrutiranjan Deo) since it has become a practice of every government officer flouting the order of this court to tender unconditional apology in a routine manner.”
In order to bring a sense of self-realisation to the BDO, it has asked BDO Deo to work as a supervisor of a public park of his choice in the district.
