Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Monday annulled the election of Cuttack-Barabati Congress MLA Mohammed Moquim on grounds of filing incomplete personal details while filing his nomination paper.

According to the High Court verdict, Moquim failed to furnish detailed information regarding the criminal cases lodged against him in the affidavit while filing his nomination. The Orissa High Court also observed that the affidavit was not properly checked by the Returning Officer and hence, his election has been declared as invalid.

A complaint in this regard was lodged by Debashish Samantharay, the BJD candidate for the Cuttack-Barabati Assembly seat.
