Cuttack: The High Court of Orissa organised the first-ever state-level quiz contest for the judicial officers in Odisha to celebrate the 75th year of its establishment in collaboration with QShala. The quiz was organised in three phases – 2 preliminary rounds, 6 zonal rounds, and the grand finale.
The two online preliminary rounds, common to all 30 districts, were organised on June 11 wherein 432 judicial officers of various cadres participated individually. The top three winners of each district formed a team to represent their respective districts in the zonal rounds.
For the zonal rounds, six zones were formed with one zonal headquarter in each zone. Each zone included five districts.
- Zone 1: Zonal Headquarter – Jeypore. Districts: Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Rayagada and Kalahandi
- Zone 2: Zonal Headquarters – Berhampur. Districts: Ganjam, Gajapati Nayagarh, Kandhamal & Boudh
- Zone-3: Zonal Headquarters – Sambalpur. Districts: Sambalpur, Bargarh, Balangir, Nuapada, and Jharsuguda
- Zone 4: Zonal Headquarters – Angul. Districts: Angul, Sonepur, Deogarh, Sundergarh and Keonjhar
- Zone 5: Zonal Headquarters – Balasore. Districts: Balasore, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Mayurbhanj, and Bhadrak
- Zone 6: Zonal Headquarters – Cuttack. Districts: Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Dhenkanal, Khurda & Puri.
The winning team of each zonal round participated in the grand finale held at the Odisha Judicial Academy in Cuttack on July 2 in the presence of Chief Justice Dr S Muralidhar and the judges of the High Court of Orissa. The questions asked in the quiz were on the topics of law, politics, and social studies from the lens of history, culture, music, movies, art, and technology.
The Koraput team won the quiz competition and Gajapati and Sundergarh teams became the first and second runners-up respectively.
Prizes were distributed to the teams by Chief Justice Dr S Muralidhar, Justice Sangam Kumar Sahoo, and Justice Chittaranjan Dash at a function held after the grand finale.
