Sundargarh: Surendra Barla, the OSAP jawan who was critically injured in an elephant attack at Halma under the Lefripada forest range in Sundargarh district today morning succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at VIMSAR, Burla.
Barla was attacked by an elephant while he was driving it away.
According to reports, an elderly woman in Halma village who had gone to attend nature’s call was left critically injured after she was attacked by an elephant.
OSAP jawan Barla who had come to his native village on leave from his place of posting tried to drive away the elephant but was attacked by the jumbo leaving him critically injured.
On being informed Forest department employees reached the spot and rushed them both to the district headquarters hospital here.
As Barla’s condition deteriorated he was shifted to VIMSAR, Burla where he succumbed to his injuries in the evening.
