Bhubaneswar: To cater to the increasing demand from devotees, the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) has introduced four additional buses to its existing fleet for travel to Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, for Maha Kumbh Mela.
The new buses have been added to address the rush of pilgrims traveling from Odisha to Prayagraj for the religious event. According to OSRTC officials, these buses will operate from various locations across the state, ensuring broader accessibility for devotees.
Officials noted a surge in demand for bus travel due to its affordability and comfortable journey compared to flights and trains. The new buses will offer the same high-quality facilities as the existing fleet, including both sleeper and seater arrangements, ample legroom, and premium amenities such as mobile charging ports for passenger convenience.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi virtually inaugurated the OSRTC bus services to Prayagraj from Puri, Sambalpur, Bhawanipatna, and Berhampur during an event at Lok Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar on Sunday. During the ceremony, it was highlighted that over 200 people from Odisha have already embarked on their journey to the Maha Kumbh Mela.
In a move to support women pilgrims, OSRTC has announced a 50% discount on ticket fares for women. The buses are designed to provide maximum comfort for travelers, making the journey to Prayagraj a hassle-free experience.
The OSRTC initiative underscores its commitment to offering accessible and affordable transportation for religious and cultural events, making it easier for devotees to participate in significant gatherings like the Maha Kumbh Mela.
