Bhubaneswar: The aspirants appearing for the OSSC Statistical Assistant Recruitment examination have alleged that the question paper packet was opened ahead of the stipulated time at an examination center at Gopal village in Balasore on Sunday.
According to reports, OSSC conducted the Statistical Assistant Examination across the state on Sunday. The time for this exam was fixed from 10:30 am to 12:00 noon. While the rule mandates that the seal of the question paper packet be opened before the students before the examination, students alleged that the packet was opened much before 10.30 am at the Gopal village examination center in Balasore.
Gauhari Sahu, a candidate appearing for the exam, alleged that they found the question paper seal open much before the start of the examination. When an invigilator said that they received the question paper packet, its seal was already open. As the examinees didn’t believe the invigilator’s version, they wanted to see the CCTV footage of the room where the question paper was stored. Going through the CCTV footage they saw that the question paper seal was opened at 9:30 am, Gaurhari alleged.
The students who noticed the open seal were detained in the examination hall for around one-and-half- hours by the invigilators and were not allowed to appear for the examination. This lead to ruckus in the exam centre and the aspirants demanded for re-examination.
However, the exam authorities have denied the allegations and called them baseless. They said, as per rules, the examination was duly conducted and said that there is evidence of this in the CCTV cameras. They even informed that there was no error in the conduct of the examination.
