Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Sub-ordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC) has postponed the recruitment exams for the posts of sevak, sevika and Tribal Language Teacher (TLT) scheduled for July 17 due to the Congress party’s statewide bandh call.
According to reports, the OSSSC has announced that the exams will be rescheduled, and the new date will be notified soon. Candidates are advised to check the OSSSC website for updates.
The OSSSC had previously released a notification (No. 1333) in June, announcing the preliminary exams for these positions. However, due to the bandh over FM College student Soumyashree’s death, the exams have been postponed to ensure the safety and convenience of the candidates.
“Preliminary examination for the posts of Sevak/Sevika & Tribal Language Teacher (TLT) scheduled on 17.07.2025 is hereby postponed. However, preliminary examinations scheduled on 18th, 19th, 21st and 23rd July, 2025 vide this Commission’s Notice No. 1333/OSSSC dt. 17.06.2025 will remain unaltered,” read the notification issued by the OSSSC.
Notably, Soumyashree had set herself on fire on July 12 inside the college campus, reportedly over inaction on her complaint against the Head of the Department (HoD), Samir Kumar Sahu. She succumbed to over 90-95% burn injuries late Monday night at AIIMS Bhubaneswar.
