Bhubaneswar: The State Crime Branch will take two accused in the OTET question paper leak case on two days’ remand for further investigation. The JMFC court in Cuttack granted remand of the two accused, Jitan Moharana and Bijay Kumar Mishra, on August 11 and 12.
Jitan Moharana, a Data Entry Operator at BSE Cuttack, and Bijay Kumar Mishra, the Working President of State Ex-Cadre Teacher Association, were among eight individuals arrested in connection with the case. The crime branch had apprehended eight individuals, including the Vice President of the Board of Secondary Education, Nihar Mohanty.
According to the investigation, Jitan Moharana unlawfully accessed the laptop of the Vice President of BSE and obtained the question papers, which were then disseminated to other accused individuals. They sold the leaked papers to desperate teachers who wanted to qualify for the examination for benefits like job regularisation and pay increments. Preliminary investigation into financial transactions showed that the accused received money through account transfers and cash. Notably, Jitan Moharana received Rs 2.50 lakh through a PhonePe UPI transaction.
