**Bhubaneswar: ** Odisha depicts a sharp rise in the figure of missing children remaining untraced going by the data placed in the Assembly by the State Government.
Tabling a written reply in the House to the query made by BJP MLA and Padampur legislator Pradeep Purohit, Chief Minister-cum-Home Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday (March 20) informed this to the members.
As per the data given on District and Year-Wise Missing/Kidnapping of Child Rescued and Cases Registered in the State for the years 2012-2016, out of 10906 missing kids, 2026 are yet to be traced out while 5097 cases have been registered.
While in 2012, 121 remained untraced out of the total missing children across the State in the year, 281 missing children remained untraced in 2013, 393 in 2014, 447 in 2015 and 784 in 2016, the data stated.
While 192 cases were registered in 2012, 808 cases were registered in 2013, 773 in 2014, 1666 in 2015 and 1658 in 2016.
On the other hand, 3390 were traced out of the total 3511 missing children in 2012, 2466 were traced out of the total 2747 missing in 2013, 675 out of 1068 in 2014, 1341 out of 1788 in 2015 while 1008 were traced out of the total 1792 missing children in 2016, the data released in the Assembly mentioned.
