Bhubaneswar: The outgoing Odisha Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra, who will retire on February 28, has been appointed chairperson of the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC).
The Odisha Energy Department issued a notification in this regard on Sunday.
“The state government is pleased to appoint Sri Suresh Mohapatra, IAS, Chief Secretary and Chief Development Commissioner, Government of Odisha, as chairperson of Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) with effect from he assumes the office,” read the notification.
The tenure of Mohapatra as the Chief Secretary had been extended twice. He will be replaced by 1989-batch IAS officer Pradeep Jena, who will take charge on March 1.
A 1986-batch IAS officer, Mahapatra is a clear favourite for the coveted job with the experience of serving as Secretary and Energy departments and as the Chairman of OPGC, OHPC, OTPCL and Gridco.
