Bhubaneswar: The outsourced staff who was found administering injection to patients at female medicine ward in district headquarters hospital (DHH) Dhenkanal and the on-duty Staff Nurse were disengaged from duty on Wednesday.
In a video circulating on social media, the outsourced staff Manorama Behera was seen administering injection to patients in a ward. As it is not her duty and amounted to putting patient’s life at risk, Dhenkanal CDMO directed the outsourcing agency to disengage her immediately for going beyond her mandated work.
It was after the video went viral the CDMO had ordered a probe into the incident. The prima facie evidence suggested negligence on part of the on-duty Staff Nurse Saswati Behera engaged under NHM.
Following it Saswati was directed to stop working as staff nurse at DHH Dhenkanal for negligence and callousness in duty, allowing an unauthorised person to administer injection to patient.
As per an office order, Saswati was disengaged w.e.f from December 5 until further orders, pending recommendations of the disciplinary committee. The period of disengagement of work on administrative ground would be treated as no work no pay, it added.
